Bible Warned Wars

The Bible provides clear warnings regarding the prevalence of conflict as a sign of the approaching end of time. Christ’s own prophecies on the Mount of Olives serve as a primary rehearsal of the fearful scenes that precede His second coming, specifically highlighting that nations and kingdoms will rise against one another (HM November 1, 1893, par. 12). While these predictions saw a partial fulfillment during the events leading to the destruction of Jerusalem, they have a more direct and solemn application for those living in the last days (DA 628.3). Current global conditions reflect an environment of constant agitation, signaling that the world is standing on the threshold of great and solemn events (PK 536.4).

The increase in wars and rumors of wars, alongside natural disasters, indicates that the time of trouble is very near and will continue to intensify until the return of Christ (PH120 11.2). These developments are described as the "beginning of sorrows," serving as a divine warning that the world is increasingly stirred by a spirit of war (Ev 194.1). Despite these warnings of international strife and social upheaval, followers of Christ are instructed not to be overcome by fear or to believe that God has forsaken the world (Pr 302.2).

Instead of relying on physical weapons, the believer is encouraged to find power and sustainment in the Word of God, meeting the challenges of a hostile world with prayer, zeal, and confidence in divine help (GC 361.2). The Bible is presented as the ultimate source of strength, providing the spiritual "arms" necessary to remain steadfast amidst the rising tide of global conflict (HF 224.5). Historically, the spread of Bible truth has often been met with resistance and even the "sword of persecution" by those who feared its influence on established powers (GC88 277.2).

Because there is a world to be warned and souls are perishing, there is a critical need for those who know the truth to arouse from spiritual inactivity (6MR 201.1). The warnings regarding wars are intended to lead individuals to a deeper trust in the Lord, whose purposes remain unthwarted even as earthly kingdoms experience turmoil (Ev 703.3).
