The EGW passage is a direct quote from 2 Thessalonians 1:4-10.
2 Thessalonians 1:5

"I commit this to you, hoping and praying that God may bless it to you, and that you both may obtain a fitness to be counted worthy of eternal life. 1T 712.1"
The phrase 'counted worthy' is directly taken from 2 Thessalonians 1:5, and the context of eternal life/kingdom of God is also shared. EGW's statement is clearly alluding to this verse.
