Daniel 11:1
"Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him."
"Daniel's prayer had been offered “in the first year of Darius” ( verse 1 ), the Median monarch whose general, Cyrus, had wrested from Babylonia the scepter of universal rule. The reign of Darius was honored of God. To him was sent the angel Gabriel, “to confirm and to strengthen him.” Daniel 11:1 . Upon his death, within about two years of the fall of Babylon, Cyrus succeeded to the throne, and the beginning of his reign marked the completion of the seventy years since the first company of Hebrews had been taken by Nebuchadnezzar from their Judean home to Babylon. Daniel 11:36
"And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done."

Both passages describe a figure or entity exalting itself above God. Daniel 11:36 speaks of a king who magnifies himself above every god, while the EGW passage describes the goddess of Reason being elevated and worshipped in place of the Deity.
