A World in Turmoil
Do you ever feel like the world is spinning out of control? Wars, natural disasters, and moral decay seem to be increasing all around us. The Bible speaks of a time when these things would happen, a time of great distress before the return of Jesus Christ. These are not signs of hopelessness, but rather signs of hope, pointing to the soon return of our Savior (2 Corinthians 5:14).
The Promise of His Return
Jesus Himself promised, "I will come again" (John 14:3). This is not just a comforting thought, but a firm declaration. The scriptures are filled with prophecies about His second coming, a day when He will return in power and glory to gather His people and establish His eternal kingdom. This blessed hope should fill our hearts with joy and anticipation (Colossians 3:16).
A Glorious Appearing
The return of Christ will not be a secret event. Every eye will see Him (Revelation 1:7). He will come with the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. The righteous dead will be resurrected, and together with the living saints, they will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. This is the culmination of our faith, the moment we have longed for (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
Preparing the Way
While we eagerly await His return, we are not to be idle. We are called to be watchmen on the wall, sounding the alarm and preparing the way for the Lord. This involves living holy lives, sharing the gospel with others, and demonstrating the love of Christ in all that we do. Our lives should reflect the character of the One we serve (2 Corinthians 11:23).
A Call to Faithfulness
The time is short, and the signs of His coming are all around us. Now is the time to examine our hearts and make sure that we are ready to meet Him. Are we living in accordance with His will? Are we seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness? Let us not be found slumbering when He appears, but rather watching and waiting with eager expectation (Matthew 25:13).
The Ultimate Reward
For those who love Him and long for His appearing, the second coming of Christ will be a day of unspeakable joy and triumph. We will be reunited with loved ones, freed from pain and suffering, and welcomed into His eternal kingdom. We will reign with Him forever and ever (Revelation 20:6). What a glorious hope we have in Jesus Christ!
