How tall was Adam?
Ellen White wrote that Adam "was more than twice as tall as men now living upon the earth, and was well proportioned" (1SP 24.2). This description appears consistently across multiple writings, emphasizing both his extraordinary height and his perfect physical proportions. In her detailed account of creation, she explained that "as Adam came forth from the hand of his Creator, he was of noble height, and of beautiful symmetry" (LDE 291.4). She further described his appearance: "His features were perfect and beautiful. His complexion was neither white, nor sallow, but ruddy, glowing with the rich tint of health" (1SP 24.2). This physical perfection reflected his unfallen state and the direct creative work of God. Ellen White also noted Eve's stature in relation to Adam's: "Eve was not quite as tall as Adam. Her head reached a little above his shoulders. She, too, was noble—perfect in symmetry, and very beautiful" (SR 20.2). This gives us a relative sense of their heights, with Eve being somewhat shorter but still of noble bearing. The phrase more than twice as tallsuggests that if the average height of men in Ellen White's time was around 5'6" to 5'8", Adam would have stood somewhere over 11 feet tall. However, she emphasized not just his height but his overall perfection: "Adam was a noble being, with a powerful mind, a will in harmony with the will of God, and affections that centered upon heaven. He possessed a body heir to no disease, and a soul bearing the impress of Deity" (Te 11.3). This remarkable physical stature was part of humanity's original design, reflecting the glory and perfection that characterized Eden before sin entered the world. --- 💡 **You might also want to explore:** • What other physical characteristics did Ellen White describe about Adam and Eve before the fall? • How did sin affect human physical stature and health according to Ellen White? • What does Ellen White say about the covering of light and glorythat clothed Adam and Eve? --- 📚 **thousands of passages found** containing these search terms — [Explore in Full-Text Search](/advanced-search?q=How+tall+was+Adam%3F)
