EGW's passage directly echoes the concept of 'to each has been appointed a work, according to his ability' from the parable of the talents.

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Both passages emphasize the importance of personal growth and development in virtues and knowledge. While EGW doesn't directly quote 2 Peter, the call to add virtue to virtue and knowledge to knowledge is a clear parallel to Peter's exhortation.
