The EGW passage directly alludes to Jesus' warning to 'beware of men' in Matthew 10:17. It expands on this warning by explaining the dangers of relying on worldly wisdom and the importance of following God's guidance.

EGW directly quotes and expands upon Matthew 10:18, explaining its implications for the disciples and the spread of the gospel.
