Both passages describe Satan and his followers being cast out. The EGW passage expands on the reasons and the continued influence of Satan's rebellious spirit on earth.

Both passages deal with Satan's misrepresentation of God's character. Genesis 3:4 shows Satan directly contradicting God's word, while the EGW passage explains that Satan caused God to be regarded as severe and tyrannical.
