Both passages describe a meeting or conference to discuss religious matters. The EGW passage describes disagreement and debate, while Acts 15:6 simply states the apostles and elders came together to consider a matter. The connection is weak but present.

The EGW passage describes a significant personal sacrifice (leaving her child) for what she perceives as a higher duty, and then explicitly compares it to Jesus' sacrifice.
