"For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee."
Both passages discuss a period of darkness and ignorance covering the earth. Isaiah 60:2 speaks of literal and spiritual darkness, while EGW describes the darkness resulting from Israel's failure to share God's truth. The thematic parallel is strong.

Matthew 5:14 states that believers are the light of the world. EGW states that Israel should have been the light to the world, but failed. The principle of being a light to the world is present in both passages.
