Are feast dats still binding today ?

The annual feasts were originally established by God to serve as memorials of His providential care and to point forward to the work of the Messiah. These gatherings, such as the Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles, were designed to keep the knowledge of God alive in the hearts of the people and to strengthen the social and spiritual bonds of the nation (DA 447, PP 537, PP 540.6). While these assemblies were intended to be seasons of true worship, they were often perverted by human traditions and outward ceremonies that lacked inward piety (DA 447, 9MR 180). In the Jewish economy, the Passover was particularly significant as it typified the "one great Sacrifice" of Christ (18MR 90.3).

However, the specific ceremonial requirements and the necessity of assembling at a central sanctuary like Jerusalem were part of a system of rites and ceremonies intended to make eternal realities understood during that era (PP 537, 9MR 180). The Lord promised blessings for the faithful observance of these requirements during the time they were in force (2T 573.1). While the specific ceremonial laws governing these feasts are not described as binding in the same manner today, there is a spiritual principle behind them that remains highly relevant. It is suggested that the people of God would benefit from having experiences similar to the Feast of Tabernacles—not as a legal requirement, but as a "joyous commemoration" of God's blessings and a time to gratefully recall how He has led His people out of darkness (PP 540.6).

Today, the focus for the believer is on a continual spiritual experience rather than the observance of shadows. We are encouraged to "feast continually" upon the heavenly manna of Christ’s word and to drink from the water of life (SpTEd 79.1). Rather than relying on external forms or the help of others to resolve spiritual trials, individuals are encouraged to engage in personal devotion, including fasting and prayer, to maintain their own connection with God (EW 105.3, ExV54 24.2).
