Knowing God's
Ellen White emphasizes the importance of knowing God, highlighting that it is a continuous journey of discovery and growth. She points out that God's wisdom and knowledge are inexhaustible. She explains that "if it were possible for created beings to attain to a full understanding of God and His works, then, having reached this point, there would be for them no further discovery of truth, no growth in knowledge, no further development of mind or heart" (SC 109.2). Because God is infinite, humans can eternally search and learn without ever fully comprehending Him. She also notes that "God intends that even in this life the truths of His word shall be ever unfolding to His people" (SC 109.2). Ellen White also wrote that "the knowledge of God is not to be gained without mental effort, without prayer for wisdom" (AUGleaner June 9, 1909, par. 3). She encourages diligent searching for hidden treasures and seeking wisdom from heaven to distinguish between human inventions and divine commands. She adds that "the Holy Spirit will aid the seeker for great and precious truths which relate to the plan of redemption" (AUGleaner June 9, 1909, par. 3). This means that knowing God requires continuous effort, prayer, and a willingness to be guided by the Holy Spirit.
