EGW directly alludes to 2 Corinthians 6:17, using similar phrasing about coming out from the world and not touching the unclean thing.

Both passages connect a change of heart (broken spirit/contrite heart vs. loss of braggadocio and development of tenderness) with a closer relationship with God. The EGW passage describes the outward manifestations of this inner change.
