"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
Both passages discuss the dangers of covetousness and its consequences. The EGW passage uses the story of Ananias and Sapphira as an example, while 1 Timothy 6:10 speaks more generally about the love of money.
