"Those who present matters to the students in an uncertain light are not fitted for the work of teaching. Both passages discuss sowing seeds and bearing fruit, although EGW applies it to gospel teaching and Matthew to the reception of the word.

Both passages refer to a group of people being 'peculiar' or set apart, with EGW connecting it to specific truths and 1 Peter to being called out of darkness.
