"that He promised. Jesus has risen up and shut the door of the holy place of the heavenly sanctuary and has opened a door into the most holy place and entered in to cleanse the sanctuary. All who wait patiently shall understand the mystery. Man has erred; but there has been no failure on the part of God. All was accomplished that God promised; but man erroneously believed the earth to be the sanctuary to be cleansed at the end of the prophetic periods. It is man's expectation, not the promise of God, that has failed.” EW 250.1"
"And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;"
Revelation 3:7 speaks of Christ having the key of David, opening and shutting doors. EGW uses the imagery of Christ opening and shutting doors in the heavenly sanctuary. While not a direct quote, the thematic connection is strong.
"It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these."
Both passages discuss the purification of heavenly things/sanctuary. EGW interprets Hebrews 9:23 in the context of the heavenly sanctuary and its cleansing, which is a valid, though specific, interpretation.
