EGW directly alludes to 1 Peter 2:9, echoing the language of being a chosen people called out of darkness into light.
"In the visions of the prophets of old the Lord of glory was represented as bestowing special light upon His church in the days of darkness and unbelief preceding His second coming. As the Sun of Righteousness, He was to arise upon His church, “with healing in His wings.” Malachi 4:2 . Ellen White directly references Malachi 4:2 in this passage.
"For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee."
Both passages speak of light shining in darkness, specifically in relation to God's people. EGW connects this to Malachi 4:2, but the sentiment is similar to Isaiah 60:2.
