Men are seeking to bring those engaged in the different trades under bondage to certain unions. This is not God's planning, but the planning of a power that we should in no wise acknowledge. God's word is fulfilling; the wicked are binding themselves up in bundles ready to be burned. 7T 84.2"
"Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn."
Both passages use the imagery of binding in bundles for destruction. EGW speaks of the wicked binding themselves in bundles ready to be burned, while Matthew 13:30 describes the tares being gathered and bound for burning. The connection is clear and intentional.
"work we are to preserve our individuality. We are not to unite with secret societies or with trade-unions. We are to stand free in God, looking constantly to Christ for instruction. All our movements are to be made with a realization of the importance of the work to be accomplished for God. 7T 84.3"
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."
Both passages emphasize standing firm in freedom from bondage. EGW urges believers to preserve their individuality and not unite with unions or secret societies, while Galatians 5:1 exhorts believers to stand fast in the liberty Christ has given them and not be entangled in a yoke of bondage. The principle of freedom from worldly entanglements is directly echoed.
