EGW directly alludes to the concept of glorifying in the Lord rather than in human achievements, echoing the sentiment of 1 Corinthians 1:31.

Ellen White directly references Hosea 6:3 in this passage.

Both passages encourage continuous spiritual growth and striving towards a higher goal. EGW's 'climbing higher' and Philippians' 'press toward the mark' share a similar theme.
