"And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common."
Both passages describe a community of believers working together selflessly to achieve a common goal. The EGW passage describes a specific instance of this principle in action, while the verse in Acts provides a general example of the early church's communal spirit.
"At the time appointed, April 28, 1897, the school was opened, with Elder and Mrs. S. N. Haskell and Prof. and Mrs. H. C. Lacey as teachers. On the first day, there were only ten students. When the word went abroad that the school had actually opened and begun work, others came; and a month later, when Prof. and Mrs. C. B. Hughes came to join the teaching force, there were nearly thirty students in attendance. As the term advanced, and the character of the instruction given was told in the churches, others made great efforts to join them, and before the close of the term there were sixty students in all. "For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth."
Both passages deal with the humble beginnings of something significant. Zechariah speaks of not despising the day of small things, while the EGW passage describes the small initial enrollment of a school that would later grow. The connection is thematic, not direct, but present.
