Bible Warned Wars

The Bible provides clear warnings regarding the prevalence of conflict as a precursor to the return of Christ. These scriptural predictions describe a world in a state of constant agitation, where the rising of nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom serves as a specific sign of the times (PK 536.4). Such events are not merely random occurrences but are identified as the fulfillment of the Savior's own prophecies concerning the period immediately preceding His second coming (Ed 179.4). These warnings of wars and rumors of wars are characterized as the "beginning of sorrows," indicating a progression of global instability (DA 628.3).

This state of unrest is recognized even by secular leaders and statesmen, who perceive that the world is on the verge of a significant and decisive crisis (SS 278.3). The increasing spirit of war and the emergence of grievous troubles among nations are seen as evidence that the time of trouble is near and will continue to intensify until the end (PH120 11.2). Historically, the Bible has also been a source of strength for those facing hostile environments. It is described as a spiritual weapon, providing confidence and power to those who must go among "savage and hostile tribes" (GC 361.2).

Furthermore, the spread of Bible truth has historically been met with opposition from those in power; for instance, the influence of the Gospel once caused monarchs to tremble, leading to the use of military force and the "sword of persecution" to suppress the religious liberty that the Bible promotes (GC88 277.2). Ultimately, the presence of these conflicts serves as a call to spiritual alertness. There is a solemn warning against spiritual inactivity and the misuse of light, emphasizing that there is a world to be warned before it is too late (6MR 201.1). The current state of global agitation is a signal that we are standing on the threshold of solemn events, requiring a diligent study of the Word to avoid being deceived by the various interpretations of these signs (Ev 194.1).
