Based on our best data from the White Estate, Ellen G. White strongly counseled against dancing as a form of amusement. She described dancing as "among the most dangerous resorts for pleasure," and referred to it as "a school of depravity, a fearful curse to society." According to her writings, she believed that dancing opens the door to temptation and the violation of conscience, and that many young people have been spiritually and morally harmed by participating in dances. She also stated that "the true Christian will not desire to enter any place of amusement or engage in any diversion upon which he cannot ask the blessing of God," specifically including dancing among such places.
