Here are three things that will surprise you in heaven, based on Ellen White's writings:
1. The Joy of Meeting Souls Saved Through Your Influence
Ellen White writes that one of the great surprises and joys in heaven will be meeting people who have been saved through your influence, even if you were unaware of the impact you had on their lives. She says:
"If we have given heed to the words of Christ, then, as we gather around the great white throne, we shall see souls who have been saved through our agency, and shall know that one has saved others, and these still others—a large company brought into the haven of rest as the result of our labors, there to lay their crowns at Jesus’ feet, and praise Him through the ceaseless ages of eternity. With what joy will the worker for Christ behold these redeemed ones, who share the glory of the Redeemer!" (

2. The Incomprehensible Glory and Beauty of Heaven
Human language cannot describe the reward and beauty of heaven. Ellen White says:
"And yet, 'eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.' Human language is inadequate to describe the reward of the righteous. It will be known only to those who behold it. No finite mind can comprehend the glory of the Paradise of God." (

3. The Reunion with Loved Ones and the Transformation at Christ’s Coming
Another surprise will be the reunion with loved ones who have died in Christ, and the transformation that takes place at Jesus’ return:
"The 144,000 shouted 'Alleluia!' as they recognized their friends who had been torn from them by death, and in the same moment we were changed and caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air." (

These points are drawn directly from Ellen White's books and reflect her inspired perspective on the surprises and joys awaiting the faithful in heaven.
