On God they are dependent, and to Him they must give an account of the way in which they use the talents He has entrusted to them. "Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine."
Both passages connect honoring God with resources and expecting prosperity as a result. The EGW passage warns against misusing resources, while Proverbs encourages honoring God with them.
"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."
Both passages emphasize doing things in a way that honors God, though the EGW passage focuses on avoiding extravagance while 1 Corinthians 10:31 is more general.
